“UPBAir team sets goals for future innovative projects in Industry 4.0”

Today, February 27, 2025, part of our Pneumatics team from the Smart Pneumatics Lab (SPL) within the Department of Robotics and Production Systems held one of our first administrative meetings. The goal was to establish our objectives, define the team’s evolutionary path, and prepare ourselves for upcoming projects.

Under the careful guidance of our mentor, Professor Mihai Ghinea, director of the SPL laboratory, and our team coordinator, Cosmin Baltag, a first-year Robotics student with a deep passion and skill for engineering, we aim to successfully complete numerous large-scale projects.

Some of the first projects we are working on include the rehabilitation and improvement of one of our pneumatic machines. This will allow us to participate in competitions specific to this field and showcase our work at various events within the National University of Science and Technology Politehnica Bucharest. Another key project involves gaining in-depth knowledge of all the pneumatic equipment available to us and using it for academic purposes.

The meeting was attended by Cosmin Baltag, the Pneumatics team coordinator, and David Vieru, a first-year student at the Faculty of Mechatronics and Robotics. David is also an active team member, eager to learn what we call “one of the solutions of the future.”

“UPBAIR AI for Engineering: Advancing AI Innovation in Pneumatics at the Smart Pneumatics Lab”

Today, on January 29, 2025, we, the newly formed UPBAIR AI for Engineering team, held our first official meeting in the Smart Pneumatics Lab (SPL) of the Department of Robotics and Production Systems.

Present were Professor Mihai Ghinea, director of the SPL laboratory, PhD student Radu Ivanescu, our team coordinator Olteanu Liviu first-year Robotics student and Ștefan Bejenescu-Babușanu, first-year Automation and Computers student.

During the meeting, we established two main goals. Our first objective is to develop a self-evolving AI, enabling direct communication between multiple validated AI agents so they can continuously learn from one another. Additionally, we will develop an application for a partner of the SPL laboratory in the field of pneumatics, further advancing innovation in this area.

This meeting set the foundation for an ambitious and exciting project. We are eager to collaborate, explore new possibilities, and push the limits of AI development in the field of pneumatics.
